Career Center Launches Criminal Justice Program

For the 2022-23 school year, the New Castle Career Center (NCCC) is introducing a new career program for students: Criminal Justice. This career program is a dual credit program that can be either a one- or two-year venture for students. During this program, students will learn all aspects of the Criminal Justice System, Law Enforcement, and Homeland Security.

This course includes Corrections and Cultural Awareness, Law and Public Safety, and Law Enforcement Fundamentals. Once the course is completed, students are given the opportunity to become Certified Indiana County Jail Officers.

NCCC partnered with the Courthouse in New Castle to host this course in the Henry County Emergency Management classroom. Students can utilize this career program to build a foundation on their knowledge of criminal justice and make meaningful connections with those who work at the Courthouse.

“I am very excited to expand our Career Programs offerings and add another course for students to take advantage of,” Mackenzie Jackson, NCCC Director explained. “It’s important that we give students every opportunity to learn as much as they can during their time in high school to prepare them for continuing their education or immediately entering the workforce after graduation.”
