Cosmetology Program Fundraises For New Space

The New Castle Career Center Cosmetology Program has recently undergone some much-needed changes to their program. Some of these updates have already taken place, and some are still in progress.

One of the changes was hiring Erica Robinson as the new instructor for the class. She embraced her new role with enthusiasm and is looking forward to being a part of the modernization of the program. Robinson noted, “This is my first full year at New Castle Career Center and I am really excited that we are getting to start fresh and I have the opportunity to revamp the program.”  The Teaching Assistant, Kyleigh Longfellow, is helping the students earn the dual credits and Cosmetology License.

In addition to enlisting a new instructor, the program recently transitioned to a new location with more space and an industrial design. The program’s relocation was a necessary update to ensure instructors, students, and patrons have enough space to work efficiently. Individuals in the community contributed donations to help make the relocation possible. Students continue to raise funds and seek out donors to assist with the project’s completion.

Along with the new location, Robinson is developing new teaching opportunities for her students. She and the students are making The Salon more customer-friendly to the public with new technology. Online booking is now available and credit card payments are accepted.

“I am really excited to start building our relationship with the community,” Robinson expressed. “We are looking for places and events to partner with to do haircuts, styles, and polish changes. My kids need experience and this community needs their hair done! It’s a win-win situation!”
