Culinary Arts Gear Up for First Ever Shopping Cart Wars

The New Castle Career Center Culinary Arts & Hospitality Program is gearing up for their inaugural Shopping Cart Wars Competition set to take place the first week of May. During Shopping Cart Wars students are challenged to create a dish from a secret bag of ingredients.

The competition will begin on Wednesday, May 4, with a total of 7 teams. Each day teams will be judged and eliminated, until the final Showdown Round on Friday May 6. During the Showdown Round, a meal will be served to family and guests, while the final three teams compete.

“The dishes created by the students should be challenging, unique, colorful, and flavorful and cooked to perfection,” noted Program Instructor Robin Rhinehart. “Students love the competition and have fun creating some delicious food dishes.”

In addition to leading the Culinary Arts Program, Robin Rhinehart is the Prostart teacher. Prostart is the cooking and baking division of FCCLA, a career and technical education group. Robin was recently awarded the significant honor of being named 2021 Prostart Teacher of the Year for all of the great work she does with her students.
