New Castle Career Center Receives Equipment Funding From EDC and RDC

The New Castle-Henry County Economic Development Corporation and the Henry County Redevelopment Commission have renewed their donation funding for the New Castle Career Center. The Career Center will receive $30,000 annually for 2021, 2022, and 2023.

The funds are designated for Career Center equipment. For the 2021-22 school year, the funds were used to benefit several career programs.

The Culinary Program received a large commercial mixer. This mixer will provide students with the skills and experience needed to operate similar equipment in a commercial kitchen.

The Welding Careers Program purchased a CNC machine for students to work with. The CNC Machine will enable students to be more creative with welding projects and practice skills toward certification.

The Broadcasting Program replaced their soundboard in the studio. The sound board is a crucial tool for students to be able to successfully host the program’s on-air radio station.

The Cosmetology Program received barber chairs for the salon. The chairs will help to train students for their cosmetology licenses.

“The Career Center is so fortunate to have the New Castle-Henry County Economic Development Corporation and the Redevelopment Commission grant to purchase equipment that would not be available without their generous support,” said Mackenzie Jackson, Director of the New Castle Career Center. “The students benefit from the items purchased for their programs and the instructors are able to better teach required skills in the classroom and labs.”

The New Castle Career Center is continually looking to expand community partnerships and offers 17 programs that students can take advantage of during their junior/senior year of high school. For more information, visit nccareercenter.org.
