Building Trades
Construction Technology provides experiences related to residential home construction. Second year students are assigned more complex independent projects and are given leadership roles. All aspects of safety are stressed. The students focus on one or two large projects each year.
A TYPICAL STUDENT IN BUILDING TRADES:
Enjoys hands-on learning
Has math, measurement & conversions ability
Incorporates patience and attention to detail
Has ability to work independently and in small groups
Is willing to work in hot, cold, rainy, and snowy weather conditions
Uses minor computer skills

IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS:
Students have built 4 houses and completed a building remodel in New Castle
Projects have averaged almost 5,000 square feet with a real estate value averaging more than $400,000
Students have gone on to attend multiple colleges such as: Vincennes, Ivy Tech, Indiana State, and Ball State University
