New Castle celebrated its Bicentennial in 2023 with community spirit and meaningful contributions. Through generous donors, the Bicentennial committee recently announced a $16,700 donation to support New Castle Career Center students.
Bicentennial events brought together residents and visitors for days filled with fun, entertainment, and unity. Highlights included a reunion, a game of Knock-Out, musical performances, and community activities showcasing the rich heritage and vibrant future of New Castle.
“None of this would have been possible without the generous support of our sponsors,” said Scott Frost, a member of the Bicentennial Committee. “We extend our thanks to Duke Energy, Henry Community Health, The City of New Castle, and The Sam Alford Trojan Athletic Golf Outing for their generosity. Their sponsorship played a pivotal role in the success of the bicentennial celebration and this significant donation for the Career Center.”
The funds will be used to provide resources to Career Center students for purchasing equipment, and supplies, and to pay for certifications and testing. The New Castle Career Center offers 20 programs for high school sophomores, juniors, and seniors. In the 2023-2024 school year, the Career Center students earned over 10,000 college credits.
