HOSA

Students from New Castle Career Center’s Health Science Education (HSE) program participated in the HOSA state leadership conference. HOSA, Health Occupations Students of America, held a conference and competitive events in Indianapolis. Fourteen HSE students showcased their skills in events focused on health science, health professions, leadership, and teamwork during the convention, each step filled with learning and growth. 

HOSA is an organization for students interested in exploring careers in healthcare. With student leadership at its heart, HOSA aims to empower the next generation of healthcare professionals with the resources they need to make a difference in the global health community. By fostering education, collaboration, and practical experience, HOSA provides students with an opportunity to develop their leadership skills and make a positive impact in the healthcare field.

The New Castle Career Center HOSA Chapter garnered well-deserved recognition for their members' achievements and dedication to service. Austin Nunez and Kyia Dumford were state finalists in Job Seeking Skills. Trinity Chapman earned the distinction of being a state finalist in Nursing Assisting, showcasing her skills and commitment to the healthcare field. Malachi Hernandez achieved state finalist status in both Physical Therapy and Job Seeking Skills, demonstrating remarkable talent and placing an impressive 5th out of 99 competitors. Furthermore, the chapter's commitment to making a difference was acknowledged through their participation in the National HOSA Service Project.

Health Science Education instructor Amber Raines expressed, "We are so proud of our students.  They worked hard and saw the hard work pay off." In addition to participating in competitive events, students engaged in workshops and connected with health care professionals and college representatives.
