New Castle Career Center and Ivy Tech CDL Program

New Castle Career Center and Ivy Tech are partnering to offer students a new Transportation Pathway. Students will earn 6 credit hours during their senior year to prepare, learn safety, and take the CDL A or B certifications. The majority of this course will be hands-on learning. During the second semester, the students will have the opportunity to work in the transportation industry 4 days each week. The curriculum will be continued on one class day during the second semester. This will be a 6 student maximum enrollment.

Important Information about Starting School:

• Enrolled students must have a DOT physical before the start date. Students must schedule their own appointments.

• Students must have valid ID’s.
• Class begins August 21, 2023: Monday-Friday 12:45-3:00
• September 11, 2023 evening drive practice begins. Students must be available Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:00-6:00 at Muncie Ivy Tech on Cowan Road. Daytime classes are Tuesday and Thursday from 12:45-3:00 at New Castle Ivy Tech.
• October 23-December 15, 2023, Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:00-6:00 driving practice continues without daytime class time.
• The second semester is work-based learning an updated schedule will be given in November 2023.
